Beyond the Classroom: MCU Hospitality Encounters a Century of Tea Culture in Dadaocheng 🍵✨

Who says learning is confined to the classroom? Our latest field trip took us to a legendary landmark in Dadaocheng: the Sin Hong Choon Tea House (新芳春茶行)! 🏛️

Constructed in 1934, this unique Western-style building was the founding residence of tea merchant Wang Lien-ho. It remains one of the few perfectly preserved historic sites in Taipei that functioned as both a residence and a commercial business. Stepping through the doors felt like a journey back in time to a prosperous era steeped in the fragrance of tea. 🕰️

Beyond admiring the architectural fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, we explored the site’s modern evolution. Since July 1, 2024, operations have been managed by the National Taipei University of Education, dedicated to promoting “Tea Exchange,” “Tea Education,” and “Tea Lifestyle.” 🌿

For Hospitality Management students, this is more than just a museum; it is a premier case study in “Specialty Food and Beverage Operations Management.”

Through professional guided tours, we observed the revitalization of historic sites and learned how deep cultural heritage can be successfully transformed into modern dining experiences and service models. 📝

This represents the perfect integration of theory and practice! Next time you visit Dadaocheng, be sure to stop by and experience this captivating blend of the old and the new.
